RECYCLING

Since the pandemic I have had focus on recycling again. It seems to be a never ending story as first time was already in 1999. It allows me to go over old ground, looking at earlier work with fresh eyes and from another angle enabling alternative ideas to emerge. I have been diving into boxes and drawers, finding hidden collected material suitable for reuse and exploring the idea of the Japanise wabi-sabi philosophy with slow, intuitive and poetical works of paper and fabric. All rooted in my own spiritual practice and thus paying tribute to Mother Earth.

Antique handmade Japanese paper and fabric already recycled when I found them have been carefully selected and now appear in fragmented form in various works. This offers me a wonderful opportunity to work in three dimensional with very tactile material.  It has been comforting to work with this slow process where the real beauty lies within the hidden layers of stories of human lives, care, struggle, resilience, survival and Mother Earth. Like holding hands with earlier and present generations united in prayer for Mother Earth. Furthermore it offers me a wonderful opportunity to work in three dimensional.
